About this game

Join Katrielle Layton in the heart of London, as she becomes embroiled in a casual, comical, quizzical quest, which has its roots in our new hero’s search for her missing father, Professor Hershel Layton. You’ll be whisked around London’s famous landmarks, from the Houses of Parliament to Tower Bridge, following Kat on her trusty bicycle, solving case after unlikely case, until she unwittingly uncovers the Millionaires’ Conspiracy.

Help Kat and company discover clues, unravel mysteries, deduce the truth, and solve original puzzles! Redecorate the agency and redress Kat in various outfits to suit the case at hand (or your mood). With twelve intriguing cases, seven multi-millionaires, and one whopper of a conspiracy, will Kat ever be able to find the missing professor?

Maybe I've just got the nostalgia of old Layton games seating my opinion, but this game just didn't live up to any of them. The characters are great and it's full of the same charm as the old games, but it feels like it's too silly. The puzzles were mostly annoying word puzzles and didn't feel satisfying when solved. It feels like it just tried too hard to live up to the shadow of the older games, and it failed.

The game is almost there. Good music and charm, but the puzzles are bland and more often poorly worded rather than clever. Small graphical glitches (like not fitting properly on my screen) are annoying but not game breaking. For a game that is enjoyed on the phone it is annoying that it takes so long to get back into the game if it's closed. It would make more sense to quickload directly back into the action. Often by the time I've loaded the game I no longer have thosw few seconds to fill.

In some ways, you really can feel the loss of the puzzle master. However, the legacy maintains more quality than nearly any other puzzle series, even if it misses the tailored, seemless experience that Tago managed to bring. Sometimes the segues to puzzles are rough or not quite in-lore, some of them are more flashy than they are fun, HOWEVER... If you go in not expecting a Layton game, but a puzzle game, you will not be disappointed. RIP, Akira Tago. Thank you for sharing your puzzles
